Built for employees of an international company, this building had to serve both as hotel/residential units for employees and upon sale- apartment building. Ground floor serves for retail, with shops, a restaurant for employees, administration offices, etc. 

Building was adapted to the climate, by contextualizing it and adding elements of typical Equatorial Guinea buildings (long car Residential units are stacked up on ground floor, in order to achieve density, and to differentiate functions. 

This project for collective housing unit with shared facilities, created a flexible model that still offers a valid base for a new beginning. By altering technical performance of a classic building a step has been made towards improving the spatial qualities of the dwellings. The introduction of open balconies extended the living spaces but also separated the residents further from the outside. This cut explains the gap between the private and the collective realm and reintroduces the communal and outdoor space as a fundamental quality of the place.

The ambition of this project is to amplify, enhance and build upon the underlying qualities of the scheme. The strategy relies on three principles: density, outing, community. By combining these elements, the project aims not only at improving the physical qualities of residential building, but also plays an active role in bringing the community closer together.
